The Trinidad Triggers (14-4) continue to give the Garden City Wind (6-14) a tough time, as the Triggers have defeated the Wind in all seven match-ups. The Wind fell in a 7-0 near shutout Monday evening.

The Triggers took an early 1-0 lead in the first and notched a second run in the third. Cody Ellis kept Trinidad from scoring another run in the fourth with an unassisted double play. Ellis went 3-4 on the night.

Garden City struggled at the plate against Trinidad’s starting arm Matt Horan. A dominant pitcher, Horan (4-0) threw a complete game allowed only one run on five hits with 10 strikeouts. The Wind’s single run came in the ninth on a sacrifice fly by Tyler Lundgren.

Ethan Rosebeck (0-2) lasted four innings on the mound for Garden City. He allowed three runs on six hits with just two walks and four strikeouts. Without much warmup time due to lineup card issues, Chip White entered the mound in the fifth. He held the Triggers hitless through the inning.

White returned in the sixth where Trinidad was able to extend the lead 5-0. Simpson came in to relieve White in the seventh. White finished with four runs (three earned) and five hits.

Ryan Blinderman appeared in the ninth to pitch a hitless final inning with one strikeout.

Eric Williams was responsible for for the first three Trinidad runs although he never reached on base in his first three plate appearances.
